Descripción del puesto

Who we are We're the AI Solutions team for L'Oréal Americas. We build internal AI products that create business opportunities and optimize processes across the organization. Split between NYC and Mexico City, we work as one team. You'll collaborate with product managers, full stack developers, and AI engineers where every discipline is in the room frommday one. No handoffs. No silos. Great work that gets shipped. The role You're the first internal product designer on the Americas AI Solutions team. That means you set the design strategy across the portfolio, build the standards that hold it together, and lead the external designers who execute alongside you. You're hands-on, not just directing. You make the strategy concrete through the products you craft and put it out in your users' hands. Our team builds agentic AI applications: tools that help marketers build media briefs, systems that automate customer claims processing, and more. Some apps are live and need iteration or new features. Others are being built from scratch. You shape what all of them become, working directly with full stack developers and product managers to build better products, not just better interfaces. You'll collaborate closely with the Global Design team based in Paris to keep the Americas strategy aligned with broader design goals and tooling. You make sure the work here connects. What you'll work on • Own the design across the Americas AI Solutions portfolio: live apps, new builds, and external partner projects • Set the design direction and guiding principles for the portfolio, so the work compounds instead of fragments • Lead external product designers: set the standards, review the work, make sure it lands • Design end-to-end: using research to understand users and their context, map flows to structure direction, create prototypes to iteration on tangible artefacts, deliver production-ready Figma designs that can be implemented • Build and evolve a design system that keeps the portfolio consistent as it grows • Work closely with full stack web developers and product managers to define what gets built and why The key challenges • You're the first. That means defining the design strategy, the process, the standards, and the quality bar from scratch. There's no playbook waiting for you, which is the opportunity and the difficulty. The Global design team will be there to help but you'll have to steer. • You're leading external designers. You'll set the direction and bring them with you through clarity and craft, not hierarchy. • AI applications move fast and the scope shifts. You'll need to design for ambiguity and make calls without clean answers, often while the product itself is still being defined. • Coherence across multiple products is harder than it looks. You'll decide what stays consistent, what flexes, and how to keep the portfolio feeling like one system instead of a collection of tools. As a Product Designer, you will • Own the design of the AI Solutions portfolio from a design standpoint • Choose the right process and methods for each problem, not default to the familiar • Lead design discussions in cross-functional settings and shift product decisions, not just inform them • Fold technical and business constraints into the thinking before they become blockers • Spot what the products need next and go after it without waiting to be asked • Build relationships with developers, PMs, and external partners so that when alignment is needed, the groundwork is already there • Mentor external designers: review their work, challenge their thinking, help them level up You'll stand out if • You've worked in agencies or startups, and you know how to lead designers who aren't on your team. You've done it through craft and clarity, not authority. • You've built design systems before, ideally with Shadcn, and you understand the difference between a component library and a system that is used by both designers and developers. • You've set standards across multiple products and made them stick. You know how to create coherence without killing flexibility. • You master Figma, at scale. You know how to structure files, build systems, and use it in collaboration with cross-functions. • You're curious about AI and already proficient with tools like Figma Design Agent, Figma Make and Claude Design. You see them as part of the design process, not a replacement for it. • You've worked closely with developers and product managers, and you're comfortable in that space where design decisions and product decisions are the same conversation. What design means to us Design isn't decoration. It's how we make L'Oréal's technology usable, trustworthy, and worth coming back to. Good design starts with understanding people: their context, their constraints, what they're actually trying to get done. From there, it's about making the right calls. What to simplify. What to keep. What to build next. We're not here to make things pretty. We're here t
